PostDoc at ITU Copenhagen

The IT University of Copenhagen is seeking a 1 to 2-year post doc to join an industrial research project.

The aims of this project are to explore and develop novel design paradigms for gaze interaction in various setups that can be applied either in a mono- or multi-modal setting. That is, combining the eye movement signals with existing sensors in mobile devices, like GPS, gyroscope, accelerometer, and/or brain activity measured by EEG electroencephalography. The candidate will help shaping how eye tracking is used across technologies and platforms in the future.

The Post doc is expected to contribute to the goals of the research project by doing research within two main areas:

  1. Design engaging paradigms for intuitive user experiences for next generation smartphones and tablets simply by enabling eye control and gaze-aware applications.
  2. Explore novel ways of applying gaze interaction on smartglasses and virtual reality headsets (Google Glass, Oculus Rift)

The project requires a willingness to cooperate closely with the industrial partners involved in this project, i.e. The Eye Tribe, LEGO System A/S, SONY and Serious Games Interactive.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent competence in interaction design (with an experimental approach), and a strong background in computer science. Previous experience with multi-modal and/or gaze interaction is desirable.

Application deadline: April 21, 2014 at 23:59 CET.

Questions about the positions can be directed to Associate Professor John Paulin Hansen.
